What Causes Teeth Whitening
Tooth discolouration and staining is relatively common. Because teeth are porous, they are not stain resistant. Red wine, sodas, coffee and teas, among other food and drink contribute to tooth discolouration over time.
As teeth whitening can contribute to a younger, whiter and healthier looking smile it is no wonder it is the most common cosmetic dentistry procedure.
Zoom In Office Teeth Whitening
Cost R4500 including maintenance kit
In office teeth whitening is a 2 hour procedure with preparations that is safe and most effective. During the procedure you will sit comfortably in the dental chair, while your teeth and gums are then prepared for whitening. A special lip retractor is placed into your mouth so you are able to bite down at the back and let the retractor do the work for you.
We make us of the Zoom Teeth Whitening procedure, which is more commonly known on the Extreme Make-over TV series. A gel is applied onto your teeth and it is activated by a UV lamp, this is usually done for 3 to 4 sessions in one sitting depending on the whiteness you are hoping to achieve. You can expect to get results of up to 10 shades lighter.

Maintenance Kit
After your “in office teeth whitening” we recommend that you utilise a home maintenance kit, as over time food and drink will cause staining once again. A Home maintenance kit contains soft plastic trays molded to fit over your teeth, and 2 syringes of whitening gel.
We recommend that you use your maintenance kit for 2 nights every 3 to 6 months depending on what shade you would like to keep your teeth at. Cost: R4 500 includes the Home Maintenance Kit

Home Teeth Whitening Kit
Costs R2000
While once off whitening occurs in the dentist’s chair, some patients may opt for the home teeth whitening kit. The kit contains soft plastic trays molded to fit over your teeth and 3 syringes of whitening gel. At night after brushing your teeth you need to place a small amount of whitening gel into each tooth space of the soft plastic tray, then place the trays into your mouth and sleep with the trays overnight.
